On April 7 and 8, 2017 the 113th Illinois State Tournament was held in Marion, IL by the Illinois State Checker Association (ISCA).
Thirteen players attended from four states and the country of Ukraine.  Gene Ellison is the new Illinois State Champion. The tournament champion is Alex Moiseyev. The B Class top Illinois player and top scorer is Sue DeVoy, who in addition to her prize money won a copy of “Sixth” donated and autographed by author GM Alex Moiseyev. The tournament was played using Swiss pairing for the A Class and a two round-robin for the B Class. A good time was had by everyone. The ISCA wants to specially thank Joe McDaniel for his generous donation to the prize fund. Please mark your calendar to the first weekend in October 2018 for the Illinois 101 Tournament.
